It's super unlikely but Sakurai said he wasn't working on the next one and "someone else can make one in 25 years".

It would be hard to top Uprising, he's got hand issues, Smash Bros., and the novelty of Uprising was partly because Kid Icarus was a forgotten series and he might not want to ruin the moment of glory for the series. It really sounds like a one-time deal for him, which makes me sad.

But c'mon! Maybe at least a tiny, maybe spin-off of the series at least? c:

Kid Icarus 4 for Nintendo NX would be a pretty cool thing. Kid Icarus 4 at all would be a treat!

Ooh, I just heard about the NX. I totally agree! I can only hope someone else will pick up from where Sakurai left off.
